The weave shapes how cotton feels. Cotton percale is crisp, matt and cool, much like a freshly made hotel bed, and suits warm sleepers. Cotton sateen is smoother with a subtle sheen and feels slightly warmer, making it a good choice for cooler months. The honest limit: percale creases readily, and sateen, while smooth, is less airy on warm summer nights.
